Check me for fever!

I know, I know, what has gotten into me??? 3 blog posts in 36 hours! Crazy....Scary....Scandalous! End of times??? Who knows, but I'm enjoying it again...for now...

Have I mentioned Pioneer Woman? Thanks to Erin, I am addicted to yet another person's life & stories. Sad, but true. From her online-true-life-romance novel, to daily cattle wrangling, to fabulous recipes, and great photos, I am vicariously living through her life on the ranch.

Anyway, her most recent post was about Wranglers, yes the jeans, and it stirred up such emotion in me. No, not the emotion that comes from looking at all those "nice looking" cowboys in tight-fittin' jeans, but the one that takes me back to the 4th grade.

Please share with me if you wore Wranglers when you were a kid....

Okay, they are very cool on cowboys, or if you do things of the cowboy persuasion, but on a lanky, head-taller-than-her-peers, stringy haired 4th grader, they were only damaging to my tender self-esteem. I remember so clearly sitting in my desk chair, with my legs tucked under me, and my red sweater pulled tight over my bottom so noone could see that dreaded "W". I have never felt so un-cool in my life. Oh how I longed for some of those pink jeans with a roller skate on the back pocket! Or, those with a swan embroidered on the hip pocket. YES! Gloria Vanderbilt! Can you believe it?? 4th grade & I was so distraught with fashion woes. Sad. And the funny thing is that this was rural Mississippi, Not 90210!

I have been so disturbed to hear from other mothers how their 1st grader wants to wear only North Face jackets, and other such labels, and then I remember my Wrangler story and realize that maybe things haven't changed that much.

No matter how much I didn't want to wear the jeans, I did it anyway. I don't remember if I complained or not, I just wore the jeans with humiliation. I suppose my character was built in some way or another....And now I'm glad my character is already built & I can wear designer if I want too!! :)

My husband actually wore wranglers yeterday. I really miss seeing men in wrangelers, boots and cowboys hats!

you know i have many imbassering moments and while you wish they never happended you do wonder if part of you and who you are is not because of those shaping momements.

I always longed for United Colors of Beneton (?) (can't spell?)

Steve here...

Kay-Lynn failed to mention that I looked good in those wranglers even though I was not branding 80 head of cattle.

I am surprised you were wearing wranglers, Mandy. I figured you as more of a Rocky Mountains kinda gal.

Yeah, I really think I am having a girl. Just as soon as I found out, I just had that feeling, you know? But I don't get to find out till May 5th, very sad, but oh well. yeah, I've been reading your site for a few months now and love your posts, you're hilarious! I just could never comment because I didn't have a blog, but now I do, so yay! Hopefully through all this I will get to know you better, I feel like I already do from everyone else. :) Hope you have a great day!

I love this post. I too had a pair of Wranglers that my dad (who grew up on a farm) got me, but I was also mortified to wear them (NOT having grown up on a farm or living anywhere near one at that point in my life). I had one pair of the GV jeans that I wanted to wear every day, and can remember being so jealous of this one girl in fourth grade that had the GV jeans in EVERY color! Too funny.
