Hmmm....We just returned from a fabulous weekend with friends in North Carolina and I can't decide which song is playing in my head...Sweet Home Alabama or Carolina In My Mind.
Of course, it always feels good to come home from a vacation, but leaving NC is always bittersweet. We have so much fun hanging out with friends and watching our kiddos play together again, but then you have to leave, which always provokes a tear or two.
We obviously have the most wonderful friends in the world! Our weekend started Friday where we were welcomed with open arms and lunch! Friday night we celebrated Steve's birthday at the pool where all the kids showed off their skills learned from their summer of fun. My how everyone has grown! It seems like just yesterday we were all teetering in the shallow end with floaties and now our babies are jumping off the diving board and swimming like fish!
Saturday we were invited to attend a princess birthday party for some dear friends from our old church...how sweet of them to include us! Give us an excuse to don click-clack shoes (aka high-heel-dress-up-shoes) and any combination of tutus & disney princess attire, and Ansley is there!
After an afternoon of visiting even more sweet friends, Barbara & I made it out (free of children!) for our customary trip to The Jewel Box where a small purchase of cool jewelry is mandatory! Even if you don't see anything to die for, you must purchase something!
Later, with babysitter secured, we headed over to the Hirsts for an evening of good food and laughter...a great combination. There is nothing like a good round of "The Name Game" to get everyone rolling and really bring out the best (and worst) of us!
Lastly, we went to our old church Sunday morning where we saw lots of our all-time favorite people.
Thanks Hirst & Trinh family for sacrificing even a little more of your hectic Sunday schedules to see us off with a great lunch (just like old times)...we miss you & love you all!

I had lots of fun doing the slides...slide.com rocks! (Even you guys can do it!...ha!) KL, I'm glad your on the bandwagon. Love you guys so much...who knows..oneday? Since we are referencing artists, KL, Natalie Cole sang "Miss you like crazy".
Now we are all official dorks.
you seem to have started a trend. I'm sorry we missed you this weekend. I was torn when I left knowing we would miss the Scales family. It looks like you had a good visit though. As I was perusing your blog I read your ten on tuesday got to ten and my jaw dropped... I had already dialed barb when I saw it was a joke! I thought, how could they not have said anything when giving me the update of the weekend!?! It was a good laugh!
Hey Miss Mandy,
This is Steve using Kay-Lynn's name which is visibly bothering her. The Name Game is only fun when the girl's are not cheating. I didn't think you were competitive, but I frankly did not like this side of you. Just kidding. We had a great time with y'all.
Steve
Go on with your bad self and your slideshow girl!
Glad you had such an awesome weekend! Can't wait to hear more about it.
Hey Mandy, This blog is so cute. I am so proud of you and so jealous of your time and skills. I don't think I could ever post anything as cute or funny. I have to send this to Mom and Suzanne. I am glad ya'll had a great trip. We loved Point Clear. Ya'll have to go with us next year. Call me this week....Harrison's first day of school was today...yea!!!!! A feel somewhat free at last...even though I still have Brooks trailing me!! :)
Love you, Candy
