A day of 1st's

Well, today was the day. After all the photos and video hoopla, the entire family (dad was off today) loaded up to cart Gabe off to kindergarten. It went off with out a hitch..no tears, thankfully. My eyes watered once, but I think I just had something in my eye. My timid yet brave little boy mustered up some courage and made the best of his 1st day. My favorite part was not packing a lunch for the first time in a couple years! His 1/2 day kindergarten provides a warm cooked meal everyday. Today was...pizza & corn (& peaches). What is it with pizza & corn? A friend & I discussed this today. Do you remember that school cafeterias have always paired corn & pizza?? What is the deal with that? I mean, I don't see corn on the menu at Pizza Hut, or Papa Johns. Nonetheless, I think he liked it. (And I liked him not eating another PB&J for the 13oth day in a row.) My favorite part was when I asked him what they served for lunch & he said...."we had corn on the cob, but not on the cob...". I think he means whole kernal corn! I'm certain that not everyone thinks this is funny....but I'm the mommy & it's my job to think these things are cute.

Also today Ansley had her 1st ballet lesson, and if you've never seen about 6 little 3 year old girls in pink tights, leotard, chiffon ballet skirt & ballet shoes, then you've been missing out!
She had a blast twirling & tip-toeing! I am quite certain that these are not proper ballet terms, but I'm new to this whole ballet thing. Tomorrow she ventures of to her new preschool class. I think my babies are growing up! (sniff)

that something in your eye was definitely a tear. been there..done that! It's so hard to see our babies get big--I feel like we just gave birth to these little grade schoolers. How can they possibly be eating rectangle pizzas and corn from the school cafeteria. I am glad you were so brave...oh yeah and Gabe too! :)

How did this happen? When did our "Baby Gabe" grow up? Kindergarten...real live kindergarten...with pizza and corn! In my mind Gabe will always be the curious toddler wondering "What's it deeewwww?"

Ansley taking ballet is beyond my realm of comprehension at this point. She's supposed to be at home looking for her Tinkerbell wings, and driving the Barbie-mobile, not learning to plie' in 3rd position!

Perhaps you should consider making sweet Amelia Jane stay a baby a bit longer. We need some cuddling.

I really love your kids because they are so nice, because they are my friends. And i really love how they play together and i wish they could be my neighbor. And i know they will come visit me soon. I really love your kids. Your kids are my best friends.

Love your new blog, girl! I remember my first blog post and feeling so stressed too...wanting it to be "right". But I've discovered that when you're documenting your babies there just is no right way to do it...the only wrong way is to NOT do it, you know? Preserve those memories and everything will be fine!
