If you are unaware, I should be living in the country somewhere on rolling acreage with various forms of wildlife & livestock to care for. Idyllically, my kids would be out feeding the animals & shooting strays with bb guns in the early hours. But none the less, we are living on +/- 1/3 acre lot in a neighborhood less than 1 mile from downtown in a metropolitan area. And yes it is home. So we do the best we can to bring a little country life to the city.
Last Christmas, Gabe got a live trap. We set it faithfully for a number of months without luck and had given up until recently. There have been spottings of wildlife in the neighborhood! Yes of course, a cute bunny or two, but we have smelled a skunk and heard of very nearby (like in front of our house) spottings of a raccoon and believe it or not, a red fox! We are very near the base of a mountain, so yes fox & coyotes may occasionally grace the city with a little "animal control" help.
The boys in the family have been determined to trap some form of wildlife this summer, and last night was the night! Around 8 a.m. this morning, Gabe let out this shriek of excitement: "MOM! I CAUGHT A POSSUM!!!!!!!!" Yes, he did indeed!

Freakishly creepy, I know.
Thought you might want to get a close-up of those chompers!
I do not at all like how he is looking at my boy's ankles! NOT AT ALL!

Sweet Gabe. I love that he loves this.
**This creature was set free and was in no way harmed during the trapping or releasing portion of this story.....unfortunately.**

LOVE IT! Gabe, the teeth look great! Hope the toothfairy has been good to you.
I love it! Love the live trap and love the new look of the blog! I just might have to copy you and change mine up a bit!
miss you!
Loved the blog update! I'm definitely a country girl at heart too and would love to live in the country with a big garden and livestock (don't really think it will happen, but I can dream, right?). So I'm sure we will be investing in one of those traps once Tyler gets here! :) Hope you're doing great!
Holy smokes--I gasped when I saw the photo of it by Gabe's legs. In the first two, I was thinking it was this tiny little thing. . . maybe 8" long or so. But, WOW, that thing is HUGE! Yikes!
I'm a little late on the comment but I think that's great! Though I'm not sure what i would do with a possum if Luke caught one... Way to go Gabe!
