Look Mom, No Hands!

This is our latest trick! Last week (Monday, for the record) Amelia decided she was just ready to sit up. Imagine my surprise when I just plopped her on the floor to see what would happen, and she stayed upright! It doesn't last terribly long yet, but we're working up to a full minute. She is proud of herself and I am proud to hopefully be getting rid of some of these baby "devices" that are forevermore cluttering our floor! ...now if we can just master rice cereal!

I FOUGHT THE PASSY AND THE...PASSY WON!
I know Grandmother is cringing at the site of this! I have never been a fan of the passy, and neither have any of our children....until now. After 5 months of protecting her from the "mouth-plug" (which is what it looks like) and waiting for her to find her thumb, Amelia decided she would like a little passification from time to time! I must admit it comes in pretty handy in church, on long car rides, and when she's just generally in a fussy mood. I guess it will be easier to take away..just ask Ansley who gets a dose of thumb medicine on occasion to help her curb the addiction. "THUM" has a combo of cayenne pepper, acetone, and some other nasty ingredients to deter the thumb-sucking. Who knows, I'm still holding out hope that I'll walk in her room some morning to get her out of bed, only to find her in a peaceful, far-away place, going to town on her thumb!
